IMPORTANT ~ BEFORE YOU INSTALL:

1) Start with a fairly clean install of the MAW 1.21 game. If you haven't already done so, upgrade MAW to version 1.21 before applying this update.

If you been playing the game normally since installing 1.21 then you should be able to upgrade to 1.30 without any difficulty. If you've modified MAW in any way then start with a fresh install using the 1.10 instructions then updating it to the 1.21 level.

Regardless, complete the next steps before installing the 1.30 update.

2) Run the MAW Spawning Configuration Utility , select Legacy Mode and click the Configure Spawns button. A shortcut for the utility should be on your desktop and in your CFS3 Mediterranean Air War start menu folder.

3) Launch the MAW game using the " CFS3 MAW ~ Standard Mode " shortcut (or the "normal.exe" program inside the MAW game folder), setup a Quick Combat session and click Fly to start the session. You don't have to complete the session and can exit at any time.

AFTER COMPLETING STEPS 1 TO 3 ABOVE:

4) Download the dr_cfs3maw_c1_v1.30u.zip file and place the zip file into a convenient location on your hard drive.

5) Unzip the dr_cfs3maw_c1_v1.30u.zip file you just downloaded by right-clicking on it, selecting the "Extract All..." menu item and following the prompts.

6) Double-click the dr_cfs3maw_c1_v.130u.exe program to launch it then follow the installer's prompts.

7) When the installer Directory screen appears:

make sure you locate your current CFS3 Mediterranean Air War directory. The installation files need to be installed in your MAW game folder which is usually (note: the example image is from the 1.20 installer):

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 Mediterranean Air War

but you may have installed your game somewhere else such as on a second hard drive (D:). The normal location is already selected by the utility. If your game is elsewhere, click the "..." button then browse to the correct game folder:

select the CFS3 Mediterranean Air War folder then click the OK button.

8) Continue to follow the installer's prompts until it exits.

AFTER THE 1.30 UPDATE INSTALLER HAS BEEN RUN:

9) When the installer exits, it should open the instructions for "Repairing Missing Pilots":

Since the pilot biographies have been enhanced and updated you must follow the steps in the "Repairing Missing Pilots" procedure to have the pilot selections appear properly in the game.

If the instruction page doesn't open, or you've already closed it, it can be be displayed by selecting the "Repairing Missing Pilots" item in the CFS3 Mediterranean Air War start menu folder or by opening the "MAW_Repairing_Missing_Pilots.htm" document from within "The Desert Rats" folder inside your MAW game directory.

Once you've following the "Repairing Missing Pilots" steps, the upgrade is complete.
